Fundamental and Derived Quantities
1. Fundamental Quantity is also known as basic quantity. This refers to single unit. Single unit such as meter, centimeter, inch, grams, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, Celsius, second, candela, and amu.
Example: Length, Mass, Distance, Displacement, Time, Temperature, Height, Luminous Intensity, Amount of substance.
2. Derived Quantity refers to two or more units. This quantity is a combination of two or more units like m/s, g/cm^3, kg m/s^2, m^3, and etc.
Example: Momentum, Work, Power, Energy, Force, Velocity, Speed, Volume, Area, Density, Weight, Specific Gravity, Impulse, Acceleration
Scalar and Vector Quantities
1. Scalar Quantity is a physical quantity that describe by a single number. It possesses magnitude only which means a number and a unit is the only present in the quantity.
Example: Length, Work, Mass, Distance, Time, height, temperature, Speed, Specific Gravity, Power, Area, Density, Volume, Amount of substance
2. Vector Quantity is a quantity having both magnitude and direction.
Example: Displacement, Momentum, Force, Velocity, Acceleration, Weight, Impulse
